Women Voices and Women Votes

A talk by Ann Henderson about suffragettes in the Yorkshire Dales. Part of the Friends of the Museum annual lecture programme. Free - donations welcome.
 

Egg-cellent Easter Trail


Saturday 8 to Friday 23 April

10:00 - 17:00
Easter Trail with prizes - find all the clues and learn about the
egg-ceptional birds of the Yorkshire Dales.

Drystone Walling Demonstration


Tuesday 11 and 18 April

11:00 - 15:00
Join our Dales Volunteers as they showcase the traditional craft of drystone walling. From the foundations to the top stones, during five short drop-in sessions they will talk through the process of turning a pile of stones into something that will last for centuries.

Rugmaking Workshop


Wednesday 12 April

11:00 - 16:00
A full day workshop with internationally renowned rug maker Heather Ritchie. £50 including materials and light lunch.

Family Print Workshop


Saturday 15 April

10:30 - 16:00
Drop in session with artist Gill Kirk using the etching press and stencils to make multi layered artwork. Fun for all using water based inks. £3 per child.

Hawes Town Trail


Tuesday 18 April

Join our Dales Volunteers on this easy 2 mile guided walk exploring the historical, industrial and natural beauty of Gayle and Hawes. Free - donations welcome.
 

The Bedale Enclosure and Aiskew Villa

A talk by Jenny Proctor about the excavations ahead of the Bedale Bypass. Part of the Friends of the Museum annual lecture programme. Free - donations welcome.
 

In the Kitchen

Join us in our traditional farmhouse kitchen where Mrs H will explain the hard work that went on there.

The Show Must Go On! Tales from a Country Show


Saturday 22 April

14:00 - 15:00
Life behind the scenes at a traditional Dales country show. Humorous tales about the local characters who helped Kilnsey Show survive world wars, a hurricane and the infamous beer tent. An illustrated talk and book signing with author Jamie Roberts.

Barns, Walls & Bridges


Sunday 30 April

13:30 - 16:00
Join our experienced Dales Volunteers on this moderate 4 mile (6.7km) guided walk. See an old packhorse bridge and walk on part of the route used by Lady Anne Clifford as she travelled from Skipton to Penrith 450 years ago to inspect her castles. Booking Advised Adult £5, Child FREE
