FASHION DESIGNER AND UNAIDS AMBASSADOR VISITS DUT


Global fashion designer and UNAIDS International Goodwill Ambassador, Kenneth Cole, visited the Durban University of Technology on Tuesday, 07 March 2017, where he spoke about his success as a fashion brand and most importantly, the role he plays in raising awareness and sharing knowledge about HIV/AIDS worldwide.

The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) leads and inspires the world to achieve its shared vision of zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths.

JEWELLERY DESIGN STUDENTS CONTINUE TO FLY DUT FLAG

A very proud moment when the Durban University of Technology’s Jewellery Design students, who took all the awards at the 2016/17 Thuthuka Jewellery Awards, were receiving their certificates and prizes in front of their peers on Friday, 03 March 2017, at the DUT City Campus.

The awards are held annually at the University of Johannesburg by the Thuthuka Development Programme following an exhibition showcasing designs from various colleges and universities across the country.

UFC TALKS DRUG SOLUTIONS TO STOP THE HARM

Looking at alternative approaches to drug use disorders was the aim behind the public lecture: Let’s talk about drug solutions, and stop the harm!, that was held by the Urban Futures Centre (UFC), in partnership with the TB/HIV Care Association, at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) on Wednesday, 28 February 2017. The intent of the lecture was to also find solutions to reduce harm caused by drugs and the way laws are enforced in our city.

NET SHOPPING IS BOOMING

South African online spending was set to continue growing in strong double digits this year and next year, Efi Dahan, PayPal’s regional director for Israel and Africa, said this week.

This compared with western Europe, where growth was in the single digits, he said.
Total local online spend was expected to reach R46 billion this year – up 24% from last year.
