SID is pleased to announce the election of the new international Governing Council

 

The Nominations and Election Committee of the SID Governing Council is pleased to announce that a new Governing Council has been elected for the period 2017-2020. A full list of the new members and their brief bionotes is to be found below.
  

Diego Coatz (Argentina) is the Executive Director of the Argentine Industrial Union as well as its Chief Economist. He is also vice President of SID Buenos Aires Chapter.
Larry Cooley (USA) is President Emeritus and Senior Advisor of Management Systems International (MSI), an 800-person international consulting firm he founded in 1981.
Jean Gilson (USA) is the Vice President of the Society for International Development (SID). She is also Senior Vice President, Strategy and Information Technology at DAI.
Rebeca Grynspan (Costa Rica) is Secretary General of Ibero-American Conference, a former UN Under-Secretary-General, and Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
 
Lahcen Haddad (Morocco) is expert in international development and serves since October 2106 as member of Moroccan parliament.
 
Wendy Harcourt (Australia/Italy) is Associate Professor in Critical Development and Feminist Studies at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), and former Editor of Development and Director of programmes at SID.
Betty Maina (Kenya) is Principal Secretary for East African Affairs of the Government of Kenya and former Chief Executive of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM). She also served on the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel of experts on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
Takyiwaa Manuh (Ghana) is Director, Social Development Policy Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and former Professor of African Studies at the University of Ghana.
 
Norbert Noisser (Germany) is Deputy Head for Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Economics of the German State of Hessen, President of the SID Frankfurt Chapter.
 
Gita Sen (India) is the director of the Ramalingaswami Centre on Equity and Social Determinants of Health at the Public Health Foundation of India, and a co-founder, and now General Coordinator of DAWN.
 
The new Council will begin its mandate immediately. The first steps it will take will involve the completion of its membership, the nomination of its officers and the definition of a new work plan in preparation of its first annual session which is envisaged to take place later in the year.

On behalf of the membership, the Secretariat wishes to welcome the new Council and thank them for their commitment and availability to serve. Their leadership and guidance is looked forward to.
 
The Secretariat also wishes to thank all members of the outgoing Governing Council for their dedication and service over the past years and wishes them every success in their future endeavors. We nonetheless look forward to a continued and collaborative relationship in the years to come.
