Shared Water, Shared Responsibility: Engaging Minnesota’s Communities, Students, Policy-Makers
Today is the last day to register!
University of Minnesota Water Resources Students In Action (WRSIA) will host a community discussion with key Minnesota policy makers at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
Inspired by Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton’s Year of Water Action, the event will include a reception and poster session on water research, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with policy experts.

ROSES 2017: Land-Cover/Land-Use Change. Funding Agency: NASA.
The Land-Cover/Land-Use Change (LCLUC) program is developing interdisciplinary research combining aspects of physical, social, and economic sciences, with a high level of societal relevance, using remote sensing tools, methods, and data. One of its stated goals is to develop the capability for periodic satellite-based inventories of land-cover and monitoring and characterizing land-cover and land-use change.

ROSES 2017: Terrestrial Hydrology. Agency: NASA.
The NASA Terrestrial Hydrology program (THP) has the scientific objective to use remote sensing to develop a predictive understanding of the role of water in land-atmosphere interactions and to further the scientific basis of water resources management. Research is sought to make improvements on our understanding of the land-oriented portion of the water cycle, either by improving and/or exploiting current satellite data, describing requirements of future satellite systems, or improving and/or creating new remote sensing algorithms with an eye towards future satellites.
Due Dates: NOI due May 24, 2017. Proposals due July 12, 2017
Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI).
Agency: US Forest Service.
GLRI targets improvements to address the most significant environmental problems within the Great Lakes Basin. Successful projects will address invasive species, nonpoint source pollution impacts on nearshore health, and coastal habitat restoration activities to improve water quality.

Call for Abstracts
The Minnesota Water Resources Conference presents innovative, practical, and applied water resource engineering solutions, management techniques, and current research about Minnesota’s water resources. The conference will be accepting abstracts for 20-minute oral presentations, posters, and special sessions.
