POTEMKIN STUDIOS News

Welcome back!

And apologies for not having sent out a newsletter in the last couple of weeks!! We used the time to reflect on the past year and to develop a new strategy and focus for 2017. One change already recognizable is that we have moved on from Event Experience Design Monthly and will now join all of our activities under our new name: Potemkin Studios.

In line with this change, our newsletter will now be called Potemkin Studios News.
This newsletter will still be your go-to place to read about Event Experience Design. And more: Many of you have asked us to also share tools, methods and cases on Workshop Design, Scenography, Team Facilitation and Innovation Processes. And so, we will!
We will also continue to collect and share event formats, tools and resources about Event Experience Design here.

Being Modern — Digital Bauhaus Summit 2017

Photo: Thomas Müller

We are happy to announce that Claudia will be hosting a track at the Digital Bauhaus Summit — a conference that we have been following from the start. The theme for 2017 is Being Modern, the track will be called Modern Talking and is designed as an interactive experiment without official speakers or workshop hosts and no strict schedule – not even a designated space! We will be following the Bauhaus tradition and investigate the questions about being modern not only theoretically, but practically and hands on.

Want to participate? Digital Bauhaus Summit 2017 is free of charge, but limited to 150 people. If you would like to join, you can submit your application here.

Scenography in Focus — Studio KNOL

Video: Studio KNOL

Introducing the design studio Studio KNOL. The studio offers interesting perspectives on social aspects expressed in playful interiors, installations or spatial experiments. In the Collective (Ir)rationality project, KNOL created a spatial experiment to study mass behaviour. They built an exhibition that functions in two ways at the same time: visitors were shown an exhibition on the topic of flock behaviour. At the same time, visitors were monitored by observers and webcams to simultaneously study how they behave as a part of a human flock. KNOL’s “excuse exhibition” is a great example of how to create a tangible spatial experience around a topic, instead of just presenting abstract content or information, and is a great way to show how to use a spatial set up to create additional insights on a topic. The results of the study can be downloaded here.
