SNO Season Finale

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — March 21, 2017

BALTIMORE, MD — Symphony Number One finishes season 2 with the music of Ives and Bentz on April 28th and 29th at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. SNO Co-founder Nicholas Bentz will be on hand to discuss his sprawling new work, Approaching Eternity. A child-prodigy violinist from Charleston, South Carolina, Nicholas Bentz has made a name for himself across the globe as a rising star, recently performing as a musical ambassador in Moscow. As a composer, Bentz has been commissioned by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, the Robinson Jeffers Association, the College of Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and has garnered a range of prestigious honors from his stunning and electrifying compositional style.

Bentz currently attends the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University where he is pursuing degrees in both composition and violin under Kevin Puts and Herbert Greenberg (respectively) as a recipient of the Randolph S. Rothschild, Eugene Scheffres, and Richard E. Hartt Scholarships.

Symphony Number One will also perform Ives' Symphony No. 3 for chamber orchestra and announce their 2017-2018 season. In addition, this concert marks the orchestra's two-year anniversary, an important milestone for a young performing arts organization. SNO made their debut on May 8, 2015 at the Baltimore War Memorial.
