Dear Parents

Our open afternoon last week was an outstanding success. We had many new families touring the school to see what great things we have to offer. I’d like to thank the many staff who spent the afternoon and evening showing families around the school and joining the many families for the picnic tea afterwards. Thank you to the families who took the opportunity to gather in Zone 4 for the picnic and to catch up with each other. It was a very enjoyable night.
This Friday is St Patrick’s Day. Children can wear green clothes on the day. We will be beginning our celebrations with Mass at 9.30am in the Church. This will be followed by recess at 11.00am and then games and fun activities between 11.30 and 12.30. Parents are welcome to join us for any or all of these activities. Green food will be available from the tuck shop at recess and lunch time. Please be aware that there will only be hot dogs available for ordering at lunch time.

What a great opportunity to continue the celebrations on Friday evening with the Barefoot Bowls. There are still some spots available if you wish to join in the fun. Phone the office 60214464 or email info@spaww.catholic.edu.au to put your name down. This is a great way to meet some of the new families to the school and get to catch up with the current ones.

RE News

A big thank you to all the families who visited our classrooms and shared in the school picnic. A wonderful atmosphere of community spirit and fun was ever-present!

Last Sunday was the second Sunday of Lent. In the Gospel we heard the story of the glorious transfiguration of Jesus.

“Jesus went up a high mountain with Peter, James and John. As they looked, Jesus changed; his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with Jesus. Then a voice spoke from a shining cloud saying, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.’ When they heard this, the disciples fell on their faces, overcome with fear. But Jesus came up and touched them. ‘Stand up,’ he said ‘do not be afraid.’ And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but only Jesus. As they came down from the mountain Jesus gave them this order. ‘Tell no one about the vision until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.’

Family Focus

Transfiguration! When something is transfigured, it simply means that it is changed. Through living perfectly the will of his Father, Jesus’ body took on the full glory of God. We too are called to follow Jesus and live God’s will.
