SXSW is underway, and thankfully event organizers will no longer deport artists who play unofficial shows. Still, there seems to be an effort to slim down the behemoth conference this year by both the organizers and brands. Some major sponsors are staying out this year, and festival within a festival Fader Fort is scaling way back. On the upside, perhaps SXSW will get back to breaking new music.

Airbnb is getting into the music game, rolling out their new "Music Experiences" program this week. This makes perfect sense for Airbnb, whose $30b valuation is irrefutable proof of demand for experiences. The program promises "exclusive access to sold out shows and intimate live performances." It's a smart move by Airbnb to capitalize beyond where we stay, to what we do.
