Have You Seen What's New at Loutet Farm?

It all started on a rainy day last May when one hundred and fifty people came out to a Telus Day of Giving.  And give they did. The biggest gift of the day was a greenhouse (hoop house) for Loutet Farm.

Fast forward to a very rainy day last month and work began on installing the greenhouse. Knee deep in mud, Wayne and his crew from Goodwin’s Greenhouses started the build.

Fortunately the next work day the sun came out and in no time at all the greenhouse was done!

Thanks to Wayne and his crew for the build and waiving the cost for a half day use of his front end loader.

The new greenhouse will give us 1000 square feet more of covered space that will help extend the growing season.  That means we will have produce earlier in the season and later into the fall.  The hope is that we can eventually grow all year round.

For this spring, Farmer Christine will have it growing in no time with amazing and delicious vegetables.  Watch for them when the Loutet Farm Gate Sales start up later this spring.

On behalf of North Shore Neighbourhood House and the Edible Garden Project  we send a heartfelt thank you to Telus!
We are proud to be a Good Food Organization working towards a healthy and fair food system in alliance with Community Food Centres Canada. We are joining a  growing network of like-minded organizations across Canada who share a commitment to offering healthy and dignified food programs in their communities.
