Get the Good Stuff

Not all art prints are created equal.

I partner with the best fine art printing company I could find.  Skyline Printing is the company I chose to reproduce my paintings. Specializing in reproducing artwork to accurately represent the original, Skyline produces museum quality giclée prints on canvas and paper. With over 15 years experience in art reproduction their consistency, color, and quality are absolutely great.

When you visit KentSullivanFineArt.com you will find a variety of my paintings offered as prints.

So what's the big deal about the different kinds of prints available?
This article will help you understand the differences so you can make an informed buying decision whether you are interested in traditional landscapes, or radical abstracts.

Here are the surfaces I print on:

Epson Cold Press Bright  100% Cotton Fiber Archival Paper
The cold press manufacture of this media provides an elegantly textured finish, enabling rich, deep blacks and an incredibly wide color gamut. This paper meets artist's requirements as an archival print media with a white point and contrast ratio without sacrificing the look and feel of a true fine art paper.

If you are thinking of gift-giving this is a perfect choice.  You can roll it up, put it in a tube and mail it.  It has a very rich traditional look and feel.

Epson Exhibition Matte Canvas

This elegantly textured canvas features soft-matte surface with a bright white point, exceptionally high DMax.  DMax is a measure of the deepest black tone a display or printer/ink/paper combination can reproduce. It is an extremely important quality factor. Images with poor DMax look pale and weak, and do not show a wide color gamut. The canvas base is enhanced with elastic polymers providing high tensile strength and flexibility for gallery wrap stretching without cracking.  All canvas prints are coated with a non-yellowing, UV resistant, liquid topcoat for added protection, durability, and print life.

You can purchase stretched canvas, or loose canvas.  Hang it as soon as it comes out of the box!  Because it is gallery wrapped on .75 or 1.5 inch stretcher bars you can hang it without a frame.  A very popular choice these days.

White Metal Panel:

ChromaLuxe clear metal panels have photographic image quality and are .045" thick.  They have a wood backing ready to hang.  White metal panels are a great choice for a multitude of applications - homes, hospitals, corporate boardrooms.

You will love the way white metal panels hang, and because of the floating look there is no frame needed, so you save a little money.  A very contemporary way to display traditional art.

Photo Paper.  This paper offers the highest gloss level of any Epson resin-coated photographic paper. Producing vivid, life-like images that rival those of traditional silver halide prints, the ultra glossy finish, coupled with a 7-mil thickness and extremely wide color gamut, makes this paper a favorite among discerning photographers and artists.

It is a great choice for the office, bedroom, or den.

Lexjet Sunset Photo Metallic Paper

This high-gloss metallic finish paper creates stunning prints. The surface produces prints that are sharp, vibrant, and exceptionally rich-looking. This paper provides the perfect way to make landscape art stand out like competition prints.

Mat and frame to create a wonderful accent to any room.

Lexjet Print-N-Stick has photographic image quality.  This wall decal will not rip, wrinkle or stretch in production, making it easy to install in wall cut-outs, wall murals, decals, and window graphics.

It is easy to install, reposition and remove, and a fun way to change the whole look of a room.  Doctors offices, kids rooms, man caves, and restaurants are great places to use these.

ON THE EASEL
Here's what's happening in the studio this week.  This is the next effort in my series of National Parks Paintings.  The Great Smoky National Park.  I hope to finish this painting by next week.  I'm still working through some of the places on the canvas that need attention, but I am pleased with the direction it is going.  Hope to be able to post to the next ART YOU CAN LOVE newsletter.  Stay tuned, and have a great week!
