ABC's of Winter Conditioning

Winter is a great time to enjoy the outdoors. With a wide variety of skiing, snowboarding, skating, and snowshoeing spots available to us in British Columbia, it’s important to keep your body in good shape to avoid injury. The ABC's are three key aspects to focus on when preparing for winter activity:

"A" for Alignment:
Avoid prolonged sitting or standing in a twisted or slouched position. Take small breaks to walk around or stretch when sitting for long periods of time.

"B" for Balance:
Balance is used in all movements and activity. Doing activities and exercises such as standing on one leg for an extended period of time will improve balance, increase stability, and help prevent injury.

"C" for Core Strength
Your core is constantly utilized during activity so it is important to work on strengthening it. Work on exercises that rotate and bend your torso to activate different abdominals and obliques.
