WHAT'S UP

The recent secret sewing has been revealed in RJR's What Shade are You? blog hop, and totally inspired the round-up in this issue. Suddenly I'm smitten with all kinds of pineapple quilts! If you'd like a link to the block technique tutorial and straight-forward layout I used, just check out my blog post. And if you're hungry for more following the round-up, visit my Pineapple Quilts pin board.

WORTH A READ

ROUND-UP

Erica/Kitchen Table Quilting used a pattern by Lori Holt to create her Scrap-Apple Quilt, discovering "it used up scraps like crazy!" [ericajackman]

In making her Pineapple Quilt
Cindy/Hyacinth Quilting used her own unique construction tutorial, obviously to great effect!
[clammon]

And then there's Matt/[odditease] who went improvisational with his Pineapple Tidbits. Oh yeah.
Rain Down from Sharon/Yellow Cat Quilt Designs has such a striking layout, and nice to know she has a pattern available
[punkydoodle53]
Julie/[julieaelliott]'s use of color in her original design, Going Rogue, has me coming back again and again for another look!

IN-STUDIO

I randomly tried Stephanie/Spontaneous Thread's "Inset Seaming" tutorial last week, and I'm glad to finally be able to add it to my repertoire. I used it pronto on my guild giving block and love the effect. Considering I was dabbling with a new technique, I overlooked the bit about trimming the seams, so ended up with some shadowing. Not acceptable really, but cool nonetheless, eh?

OFF TOPIC

~ Did you check out the QuiltCon 2017 Award Winners? So fun to see!
Kristin Shields does such great and thorough posts about the QuiltCon quilt show, and I especially enjoyed seeing and reading about the Siddi quilt exhibit, as this quilt tradition was new to me.
~ I'm always curious about quilt show judges' comments. If you are too, here's mine from my Yay or Nay.
P.S. Daughter dear followed through on her tradition of ordering us each Pantone Color of the Year swatch cards. This year it was accompanied by a cut of Kona Parrot and a spool of Aurifil 1114 Grass Green. I'm anxiously awaiting the 2017 Pantone Quilt Challenge hosted by [bryanhousequilts] and [nohatsquilts] which should be announced soon!
