Borden Park Update
Kitty Frazier gave an update on Borden Park and the recent $450,000 grant that will be used to improve the park. Borden Park extends over 17 acres and is an arboretum with 65 different species of trees. The park is mostly used for leisure and activities such as tennis and disc golf are also enjoyed by citizens.
The "Project Diabetes" grant is even better as it does not require a local match and will be implemented over the course of three years in three different phases.
Phase 1: Redo basketball court/plaza, repave trails, create a new trail and a add a water refill station.
Phase 2 & 3: Upgrade children's playground area.
This grant project supports Healthy Kingsport's mission to actively embrace healthy lifestyles. Congrats to Kitty and her team for efforts to secure such an impactful grant!

KATS Update
Chris McCartt gave an update on the progress regarding the new KATS facility. The city of Kingsport has had transit service since 1990, and this project will be the first time the city has had a facility actually designed for transit. Currently in the design phase, the goal is to start the bidding process in early July with a construction period of approximately 18-24 months.
With the KATS project, the Main Street rebuild, potential development of General Shale property and potential expansion of the Academic Village, we will have a revitalized section of downtown a long time in the making!
