Newsletter March 2017
Dear Woodlover
We have made it through the worst of the winter and compared to previous years, our facilities are warm and cozy (Thank you Bob!) – AND THE BATHROOM WORKS IN THE WINTER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 8 YEARS!!
Winter is not the perfect time to visit but our wide variety and value for money will bring a smile to your face and happiness to your heart. Besides, the weather is steadily improving since storm Orson hit us in February! Of course if you are unable to make the journey to Maine, send us an email or give us a call on 207.364.1520 or 207.364.1073
Our new containers pictured above, are filled with genuine Gabon Ebony, African Blackwood and Satinwood.
Orson hit us hard but local contractor, Todd Wardwell, brought out his monster loader and did a wonderful job in clearing the access road and surrounds of our buildings.
CITES-ROSEWOOD
Eric Meyer has written an excellent article on Rosewoods and the change of their CITES classification. This is hot news and affects all of us. So read it carefully here. In many ways we are pleased that these woods are being granted some protection from the greed that is fast depleting them. Meanwhile we at Rare Woods continue to buy from reputable sources and have good stocks of the following Rosewoods:
(Click on individual photos to view full size)
- Rosewood Tucurensis
- Rosewood Honduras
- Rosewood Indian
- Rosewood Madagascan (we have about 4000 ft but will not be sourcing any more as it is impossible after the "Gibson" raid.
