AQSIQ List of approved species from Australia
STAG News Bites 2017
The Seafood Trade Advisory Group are currently in discussions with the Department of Agriculture in relation to the AQSIQ (The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine - China) list of approved species and some market access issues around the use of scientific names v family species in relation to Health Certificates.
"Read more" below, for a list of approved species from Australia, to which the department have sought additional information from AQSIQ, and a list of species they have requested be included.
If there are any additional species exporters would like to have included in an application to AQSIQ, please contact the Seafood Trade Advisory Group.

What does the Year of Rooster Mean?

In the Chinese traditional lunisolar calendar, the Year of Rooster begins on 28 January 2017, and ends on 15 February 2018. It is a long leap year of 384 days with double Springs. The Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches of the calendar correspond with the traditional Chinese five elements (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth). 2017 belongs to Fire of the Heavenly Stems, and Metal/Gold of the Earthly Branches.

Fisheries Agency to punish violators of bluefin catch limits from 2018
Japan Times - 18 February 2017
The Fisheries Agency will introduce penalties for violating the restrictions set to be imposed on catches of Pacific bluefin tuna in 2018, sources said Friday.
In response to international calls for stronger management of tuna stocks, the agency aims to improve the effectiveness of its tuna fishing controls by setting out penalties including fines and imprisonment, according to the sources.

RCEP trade meeting begins in Kobe

Chemicals exceeding standards again are detected at new site of fish market in Toyosu

An amount of benzene 79 times the maximum allowed was detected among other toxic chemicals in groundwater samples gathered late last year from the new site at Toyosu, where the famous Tsukiji fish market is to be relocated, Tokyo Metropolitan Government officials said Saturday.
