Good afternoon <<First Name>>,

I know it's been a while since I've gotten it together and wrote you guys a newsletter.  I'll try to be a bit more organized going forward.  This is going to be a quick one today.  We have an officer's meeting tonight.  I'll send out an updated calendar shortly. The calendar link to the right is valid and has all the dates and logistics I have as of this writing.

Membership Drive.  We are conducting a membership drive this Sunday after all Masses.  Please help us out by coming over and working the table in the narthex.  Wear your Knights logowear.  Let's see if we can get to Star council for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.  We're real close.  As most of you know, Joe Martino is joining the new council at SS John and Paul.  He's done an excellent job setting us up to hit Star Council this year.  Show-up with a friend.  Let's get over the line as a send-off to our good friend Joe in style.

Country Breakfast this Sunday after all Masses.  We're going to need some guys to help out with the usual duties.  Note, we have this breakfast and the Membership Drive happening at the same time.  Again, if you have a Knights shirt, please wear it.  We'll look like a team.  Call Steve Betka if you can help out 586-255-2769.

MI Drive (aka Palm Sunday Intellectual Disabilities Drive) is set for Palm Sunday weekend, April 9th.  Mark DiPaolo is running this event this year.  He assures me he has several non-life threatening locations to choose from this time.  No really!  He's looking for a couple more guys to help.  If you can jump in even for a couple hours, that'll ensure this important cause is a big success.  Give Mark a call at 586-292-5284 if you can help.

Get on the BUS!  Joe Suminski is heading up the Casino Bus Trip April 23 - 25.  Here's a link to the flyer - here.  Please call Joe if you have a burning desire to have a great time.  Joe's at 586-337-5776

Second Notices for Dues should be going out next week.  Do me a favor, please.  If you've not paid your dues PLEASE send them in.  I will say, we've had a very strong showing this year thus far.  Sending out a second, third reminder time-consuminging and expensive.  Help a brohta out!

Where is our Calendar? As you may have figured out, we're not doing the calendar like we used to, on the side bar.  I've put the calendar in a spreadsheet and converted it into web page that anyone can download and refer to.  The most up to date calendar is always here.  The icon for the calendar in the right sidebar will take you to the calendar.  It's in the same place as the old calendar used to be.

The Council Directory, is the next project I'm going to work on.  If you do not want your info included, please let me know.  The distribution will be ONLY to the membership.  I will not post on social media.  If you're ok with the level of info in the church directory, this is basically the same info.  I'll get it set up and can then maintain it like I do with the calendar.

We have a membership meeting next week, March 16th.  Please make an effort to show up and help.  There's always lots to do. We can honestly use the hearts and talents of each of you.  Don't be shy.  Come on down!

Until next time, Vivat Jesus

The Value of Membership Referrals

As a professional insurance agent, one of the things I appreciate most is when one of my brother Knight clients or his wife refers another member to me. This is a great endorsement of the service I provided. It tells me that they were so pleased with what I helped them accomplish that they want me to help others achieve the same level of financial safety and security. When I meet with you, please pass along the names of those who might be able to benefit from the analysis that I provide.

Similarly, there is no stronger membership recruiting tool than the referral. How many of us know an eligible Catholic male who is not a member of the Knights of Columbus? Do you have Catholic family or friends, local or not, who have yet to join? Most likely, they’ve never been asked and don’t know enough about the Order to seek out membership on their own.

If you have names of potential members, please pass them along to me or your Grand Knight. Let us know if we can use your name when we contact the gentlemen in question. It’s always more effective to tell a candidate for membership that he was recommended by a current member, especially someone he knows. Don’t worry if the candidate is outside the area I serve or beyond the district of the local councils, we can make sure we put these future members in touch with the right people in their communities.

New members are the lifeblood of the Order. All the good deeds done by the Order are driven by the members. Over the past decade, Knights have given more than $1.55 billion to charity and provided in excess of 673 million hours of service. And our membership has merely scratched the surface in North America. Imagine the potential.

A Marian apparition has been approved in Argentina - and it's a big deal

What began with glowing rosaries and the rediscovery of a statue of the Virgin Mary in Argentina has now been approved by the local bishop as a series of apparitions that are “of supernational origin” and worthy of belief.

And the designation is deeply significant, recognizing the messages of Our Lady of the Rosary of San Nicolas, which exhort peace and give dire warnings, one miracle researcher says.

Bishop Hector Cardelli of San Nicolas in Argentina’s Buenos Aires province made the announcement May 22 at the conclusion of a Mass during the well-attended pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of San Nicolas.

<<First Name>> our next meeting is March 16th

We strive to do good works in our Parish and Community.  Please turn up for a meeting.  Nothing happens until you're sitting in a chair.  Looking to make a difference? Come and claim your chair.  Want to grow in your faith? Your chair is waiting.  Want to find a new friend?  We have chairs for that too!

<<First Name>> “you are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." -- Matthew 5:14-16
