2017 WSU Grape Pest Management Guide Available

The 2017 Pest Management Guide for Grapes in Washington is now available! Its updates from last year include numerous changes to the pest time lines, along with information relating to fungicide resistance management.

Hard copies are available for purchase either online or at select WSU Extension offices. A PDF of the guide is available for FREE download.

Climate Extremes Symposium - March 17

Wine and grape industry members and students are invited to a research symposium, “Climate Extremes: Is the Pacific Northwest Wine Industry Ready?” East Auditorium at Washington State University Tri-Cities.  The symposium will run from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Friday, March 17.

Researchers and industry leaders will discuss climate trends, impacts of extreme weather, solutions for mitigating damage and available resources. The symposium is hosted by the WSU Viticulture and Enology Program and is a part of the Ravenholt Lecture Series.

Registration is $100 per person and includes a social reception to follow. Discounts are available to students on a first come, first served basis with priority given to WSU viticulture and enology students.

Join us for a quick, over-the-lunch hour webinar on grapevine powdery mildew management. This short webinar will cover the very basics, including when the key time periods are for management intervention, and the resources available to help you design a management program. No pre-registration is necessary.

The 2017 Grape Day research meeting at Oregon State University will offer information on trunk diseases, viruses and fungicide resistance. Invited speakers include Dr. Anita Oberholster, UC-Davis (enology impacts of Red Blotch Disease) and Dr. Jose Ramon Urbez-Torres, Agri-Food Canada (trunk disease management). OSU and USDA speakers will also cover topics on red blotch spread and vectors, leafroll virus, and fungicide resistance. A poster session is included. 


Washington Advancements in Viticulture & Enology - April 19

When: April 19
Cost: $15
Where: Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center (Prosser, WA)

This all-day event (9:00a-4:30p) features lectures on several of the research projects supported by the Washington State Grape and Wine Research Program. The fee includes breaks and lunch. WSDA pesticide recertification credits have been requested.
