Peer Learning: Assessing the Impact of Your Volunteers

Wednesday 22 March 2017, 10am-12pm
In today's climate it is important to be able to demonstrate the difference and value that volunteers bring to your projects and services. Would you like to improve how you monitor and evaluate the impact of your volunteer programme?  This practical Peer Learning session will be led by the Prince’s Trust, who will share their experience of volunteering impact assessment.

Time permitting, this will be followed by an ‘Air and Share’ session for Volunteer Managers to discuss current issues and concerns on any volunteer management topic, and to get input from VCTH staff and other Volunteer Managers in a safe and confidential environment.

Cost.
• Our training programme is kindly subsidised by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH) via a Mainstream Grant. This enables us to offer discounts to certain organisations
• This session is FREE for voluntary and community sector organisations that are based in Tower Hamlets (must provide a Tower Hamlets postcode) and/or Mainstream Grant-funded (MSG) by Tower Hamlets Council. Book your place.

Policy

Volunteer numbers are both huge and poorly recorded

Data from the Charity Commission register shows that volunteer numbers are huge but poorly recorded. The list of largest charities by volunteer numbers is one of a number of pieces of information that Civil Society News gathered from the Commission website recently. It’s a mixture of big national charities, religious organisations, and small membership bodies. According to the Commission, Methodist Women in Britain, a small charity for the Methodist faith, has the most volunteers. The overall number of volunteers in the UK is astonishingly large, according to the Commission – around 3.46 million showing that volunteering is a hugely popular thing to do. Find out more.
