Greetings from the Lincoln Studio!

Mondo Splendente  16" x 36"  oil/cold wax/copper pigments on panel

The month of March began in a great whirlwind! I was so surprised and thrilled to sell eight paintings in the last week from three different galleries and a fascinating studio visit with three artists and a new collector from the Chicago area. Cheers for abundance!

Gallery News

We are already looking forward to spring at Atelier Gallery in Charleston, South Carolina  where I am exhibiting a large body of work. The much anticipated annual performing arts extravaganza called the Spoleta Festival is coming to Charleston May 25th and runs for seventeen days - the streets and galleries will be packed!

I'm finishing paintings in anticipation of the upcoming debut for me at the  Edgewood Orchard Galleries in Fish Creek, Door County, Wisconsin. We make the beautiful drive north (some of it along along Lake Michigan) to deliver paintings the second weekend in April. The galleries will be open daily from May 7th until October 30th.

Limited Editions, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where my husband Bobby and I are both represented, will be changing locations soon - details forthcoming. I was so pleased to sell three paintings there last week!

Thomas Deans Fine Art, located in both Atlanta, Georgia and Palm Desert, California, has expanded even further and is now featuring our work through online sales via artcloud. It's wonderful to see artworks available not only in the galleries, but in this venue as well. My paintings can be found on the artcloud site here.

Ci Ritorno I   36" x 36" oil/cold wax/mixed media on panel Gallerie du Soleil    SOLD

Unfortunately, my gallery Galerie du Soleil, in Naples. Florida is closing their doors (at least for now) because their current building is no longer available for rent.  The silver lining is the great flurry of sales for all of us this month! Thank you so much Shelby, Shannon and Carlos for all of your many efforts at the gallery over time.

Other Art Venues

A friend and talented fellow artist/designer, Sarah Boardman-Miller, is opening a gorgeous new Interior Design Showroom in a classic old mansion at 777 North Jefferson in downtown Milwaukee. Bobby and I are both exhibiting artworks for the Grand Opening coming up on April 6th. To see the invitation and the amazing space, go to Sarah Boardman-Miller Interior Design Trade Showroom

On Saturday, March 11th, Bobby and I hosted a Studio Visit at Lincoln Studio with a wonderful new collector and three outstanding fellow visual artists - Rebecca Stahr in Grayslake, Illinois, Ahavani Mullen in Chicago, Illinois and Crystal Neubauer in Racine, Wisconsin. I have known these artists for a while via social media, but it was such a pleasure to meet them in person and to spend time in the studio sharing with everyone that day.  We look forward to connecting again at each other's studio spaces in the near future.

Some Other Studio Adventures

A few weeks ago, I ventured into a weekend long printmaking extravaganza at home. We have a good size Takach press in the entry foyer. It's somewhat strange, I know, but it works out well for now until I (perhaps) have a bigger studio down the road to house both painting and printmaking.

As can sometimes be the case, my favorite 'print' that weekend was a actually a monotype plate! All stages of the process can be inspirational. These works on paper and the visual surprises inherent in printmaking offer exciting ways to explore some new territory and unpredictable ideas. While, I needed to get back to the Lincoln Studio to focus on finishing paintings, I know these forays into printmaking can provide new insight to take back to my painting practice.

Even more than I have in the past, I am using a range of different papers in varying ways while building my paintings lately. Paper is such a great way to lift paint, add texture, soften areas, create visual surprises, and monoprint marks and color onto the surface, etc.  Just like in printmaking, sometimes the accidental or happenchance nature of the process and what can at first seem like residual stuff - can be a treasure trove of unpredictable visual ideas.

I'm working on lots of paintings for an upcoming group exhibition at Edgewood Orchard Galleries called 'Abstraction' opening mid August with an Artist's Reception on September 2nd. More details forthcoming. We would all love to see you there!

I need to finish a large body of work for the 'Abstraction' show before leaving for Florence, Italy in mid June to teach at Santa Reparata International School of Art.  My treasured friend and colleague Shelleen Greene  and I just accepted twenty five students from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee into one of their four week summer programs. Looking forward to another adventure in Italy for the eleventh summer in a row.

Feeling very grateful for many blessings as I write from a surprisingly snowy day in mid March!

I imagine the whirlwind era is here for a while... Cheers!

All Best Wishes,
