National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Collecting International Women’s Day Materials
“A Day Without a Woman” Materials to be Added to January’s Women’s March Collection
CINCINNATI, OH (March 8, 2017) – The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is collecting items from International Women’s Day rallies and celebrations as well as "A Day Without a Woman " protests from across the world. According to NBCNews.com, more than 50 countries around the world have events scheduled in Hong Kong, Bosnia, Senegal, Cambodia, Pakistan, Guatemala and more from the International Women’s Strike event page on Facebook. The goal of the "A Day Without a Woman" protests are to show the economic power and significance women have in global economies.
“We are continuing to see democracy at its best throughout the world as women are speaking for equal civil and social freedoms,” says Ashley Jordan, National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Curator. “We are ensuring to capture and archive these moments as we’re witnessing history in the making.”
The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is collecting signs, t-shirts, videos and images for International Women’s Day and from "A Day Without a Woman " protests and rallies from around the globe.
