The Life of Jesus - Parables

Why did Jesus use code language in teaching the crowds?  His use of parables can be just as much of a mystery as the mystery revealed in the parables themselves.  Well, Jesus had one advantage that we do not have, He understood the heart of His audience.  He knew whether they would be receptive or reject His message before even they knew themselves.  Jesus was the mystery that was to be revealed. (Romans 16:25–26)  So, Jesus used parables to proclaim the arrival of His Kingdom (His rule upon this earth) and then privately explained them to His disciples so they could understand what He was proclaiming.  The parable of the sower and the seed describes four kinds of soil that can receive the seed.  Three of them never produce a crop, but the fertile soil not only produces a crop but one that is truly amazing.  I hope you plan to join us this week as we investigate the Life of Jesus.
