Last month, a famine was declared in parts of South Sudan, the first to be announced in any part of the world for six years.

The UN warns that the world faces the largest humanitarian crisis since 1945, as famine spreads across East Africa and the Middle East. In South Sudan, nearly half of the population is in desperate need of food assistance.

South Sudan's crisis is largely caused by the on-going civil war.
But, despite the insecurity, positive action can be taken.

Abukloi is developing sustainable agriculture projects--teaching agricultural skills, providing secure areas to grow crops for families and communities, and providing tools and on-going support to farmers.

Pregnant in a desperate time, she has hope enough to plant seeds for the future.

$25 will provide her with more adequate tools to prepare the soil for her to grow food for her family and community.

There is plenty more land to be developed and there are multitudes waiting to work the land, they just need tools and protection from violence.
