New Screens for Spring
Spring is right around the corner and we can't think of a better time to add some flowers to your printing.  Our new zinnia screen comes in two versions; we experimented with different filters in Photoshop to create the variations.  This is a great way to add variety in your work.  The zinnias are also available in different sizes.  Why not try one version in one size and the other version in the other size for a floral print?  You can find these screens in the Etsy shop.

New Screen = New Machine

For several years we have known that the blue screen we used was being phased out by the Japanese manufacturer.  The replacement screen is now white and is not quite as prone to curling around the edges as the blue screen.  Unfortunately for us, it does not burn well with the Panenka machine we've had for the last 5 years, so we have purchased a "new" (to us) refurbished 3M thermofax.  You do need to handle these white screens gently and wash out without too much force or vigorous brushing with the toothbrush.  Lukewarm water and a swirling motion with your fingers may be sufficient.

QuiltCon 2017
We were fortunate this year to be able to attend QuiltCon in Savannah, GA.  It was our  first time attending this show and we enjoyed seeing different things than we are used to seeing at a traditional show, as well as meeting up with other quilting friends.  We also fell in love with Savannah and enjoyed a couple of beautiful spring days (in February) of sightseeing in addition to the show. The quilt below is called Vertigo by Elaine Poplin of Huntsville, Al, and won 3rd place in the piecing category.
