Donella Meadows Fellow Valerie Langer was a lead member of a multi-stakeholder coalition that successfully safeguarded the Great Bear Rainforest along Canada’s west coast using an ecosystem-based management approach. The sustainability efforts of Cabot Creamery Cooperative, directed by Donella Meadows Fellow Jed Davis, have been recognized at the national level with the winning of the 2016 US Dairy Sustainability Award. Furthermore, Cabot become the first cheese maker and first dairy cooperative to achieve B Corp certification. Read more.

Amalia Souza, Donella Meadows Fellow and Co-Founder and Director of the CASA Socio-Environmental Fund in Brazil, was nominated as 1 of 7 worldwide finalists for the Olga Alexeeva Memorial Prize in 2016. The prize recognizes individuals who work for the development of philanthropy for progressive social change in emerging market countries. CASA’s purpose is to “enable funding to reach the communities most affected by the social and environmental challenges in South America.” Read more.

Former SLN Intern, Johanna Bozuwa, attended the UN climate change talks, COP 22, in Marrakech as part of an intergenerational delegation for Climate Generation to work on the importance of education, training and capacity building. She opens with: "Moving towards decarbonization presents a paradigmatic shift in our economy, society, and way of life. We need to ensure that we have the capacity for that change and that we do so in a just, equitable way. We must enable mitigation efforts, but also to adapt to the inevitable effects many communities are already encountering due to climate change." Read more.
