How do you know when you are loved?

If someone could not use words; someone like your spouse, your parents, your child, or a friend, how could they communicate that they love you?  Dr. Gary Chapman is the author of the classic book entitled “The 5 Love Languages.”  Of the five primary ways that Dr. Chapman suggests a person demonstrates or receives love, only one of them involves words.  Love is far too powerful, far too mysterious to be adequately conveyed simply with a series of consonants and vowels.

If this is true about love between people, how much more must this be true about God’s perfect love for us?  The words of holy scripture tell us about God’s love, but the Holy Spirit enacts God’s love in the life of the church through powerful means that goes far beyond words.  These means are called the sacraments; baptism and holy communion.

Join us this Sunday as we learn about the profound mystery that is the love of God in the sacraments.  In this, we have the privilege, not only to hear the Word of God taught, but also to experience the love of God enacted as we share in the baptism of two new little ones, remembering our own baptism in the joy of the sacrament.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Clint

CELEBRATIONS AND RECAPS
LINEN DRIVE
Because of your generosity, we were able to serve our city in very meaningful ways through the linen drive. We served 10 families, 14 adults and 25 children who were victims from the deadly Woodlands Apartment fire January 15. Another fire on Bakewell Street occurred on January 27th. We served 3 adults and 4 children, all of which were without insurance. Another person from AA recently was a victim of a fire, also received linens.

The remaining linens all went to our ministry partner, Mosaic Ministries. David Kaiser of Mosaic Ministries writes, "Today, our friends at First Presbyterian made a number of people in South Toledo cry. The massive pile of blankets, towels, and pillows you delivered were immediately redistributed to our guests, special delivery. One couple who have nothing were so overwhelmed they wept openly in gratitude. Thanks for continually sharing with our friends at Mosaic Ministries."
BAPTISM
This Sunday, we will celebrate the baptism of two little ones! At the 9:00 AM service, Corey Lewis Rager will be baptized. At the 11:15 AM service, Amelia Jean Bundt will be baptized.
