Grand opening next week for Centro de Prosperidad

Celebrate the opening of Centro de Prosperidad on Thursday, March 30, at 3 pm in Downtown Hillsboro at the corner of 4th Avenue and Main Street. The City of Hillsboro and Centro Cultural de Washington County are lead partners on the project that will:
  • Help residents develop new job and language skills
  • Assist entrepreneurs to start and grow a small business
  • Aid local companies in expanding their workforce

Big crowd for Block 67 open house

About 150 people took part in the discussion at last week's Block 67 open house at the Walters Cultural Arts Center. Participants suggested uses that would bring activity to the block and draw people Downtown, as well as residential units and possible retail and food services.

  • City of Hillsboro Water Department employees served as class guides and field guides at this month’s Children’s Clean Water Festival.
    • The Hillsboro Water Department is a lead partner in the annual one-day environmental education event.
    • More than 1,500 fourth grade students gathered from schools across the metro area to learn about water science, water quality, ecology, and more.
  • On Tuesday, March 28, vehicles heading southbound on SE Minter Bridge Road will be rerouted at TV Highway as crews make repairs on the railroad crossing. Depending on the weather, the detour is expected to be in place from 9 am to 1 pm. Northbound vehicles will not be impacted.
