Dear <<First Name>>,
We hope to send a small team to help with Habitat for Humanity's Build for Unity this Friday, March 17, from 7:30 am - 1:30 pm. Two of our three people signed-up to help had to cancel. If you're able to reach in love this Friday with Habitat, please sign-up here today! We'd love to send 3-4 people to help as the houses near completion.
We’ll continue our six-week journey through the season of Lent at The Table by continuing to celebrate & reflect upon what it means to claim Jesus as the Christ. This week we shift from Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus in the night to Jesus’ conversation with a Samaritan woman in the middle of the day (John 4:1-42). My message will invite us to reflect upon how this story might shape our understanding of salvation and challenge us to rethink what it means to claim Jesus as the savior of the world.
Our Lenten journey is rooted in the early church’s understanding of Lent as a time of examination & preparation for baptism. We’ll be wondering together about how we might claim Jesus as the Christ. Similarly, the earliest followers of Jesus used the forty days of Lent to workout their own understandings of Jesus as the Christ and they celebrated Christ’s claim on their lives at Easter with baptism. In recent years, we’ve celebrated baptism at The Table in the fall and we will do so again this coming fall. As we continue to grow, we’re also open to celebrating baptism at Sunrise on Easter morning this year. If you, or your children, have never been baptized and would like to learn more about being baptized at sunrise on Easter morning, please let us know by emailing me at matt@thetableumc.org. We’ll share more about this in worship in the coming weeks.
Finally, if you'd like to learn more about Growing in Faith at The Table, please check your calendars and sign-up to join us on Monday evenings beginning May 15. Here is a link to more information and registration.
We look forward to being together in worship on Sunday,
Matt
