Friday 21st April: Evening Wine Tasting - Past & Present vintages of Warden Abbey wines with Derek Smedley at Old Warden Village Hall
The Friends of Warden Abbey Vineyard invite you to a Wine Tasting Evening on Friday 21st April 2017, at 7.30 pm at Old Warden Village Hall, SG18 9HQ
Our host, Derek Smedley, Master of Wine, will guide us through still and sparkling white wines from a range of vintages from Warden Abbey vineyard, including a rare chance to try older vintages from the Whitbread family cellars. Derek has been involved with the vineyard from its inception in the mid-1980's, including planning, planting and pruning, as well of course as being pivotal in the creation of the wines. The vineyard has won awards every year since the first vintage in 1990. Perhaps the greatest accolade came when its wine was selected by Tony Blair to serve to the Queen at the Prime Minister's lunch to celebrate her Golden Wedding in 1997!
There will be an opportunity to buy Warden Abbey wines on the night (cash or cheques only please).
Tickets include wine and nibbles:
• £15 for non-members
• £13 for Vineyard members
• £8 for drivers (alcohol free drinks)
All funds raised in aid of Warden Abbey Vineyard.
To reserve tickets (only limited spaces) and for payment details please e-mail volunteer Janet Townsend-Stojic, events@wardenvineyard.org.uk
