WASHINGTON WILD NEWS

Calling All Potential Board Members

We need YOU! Want to contribute to the hockey experience of your player? Do you like what’s happening in WWFHA and want to continue it? Do you think things could be done differently and want to make changes? Do you have approximately 5 hours a week to help? Elections will be held in May, and we welcome new additions. Please note—knowledge of hockey is not necessarily required; the board runs best with people from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets.

If you are interested in running for the board or would like more information, please contact info@wwfha.com.

Kathy Demoors Appointed to WWFHA Board as New Treasurer

Kathy Demoors is starting her initial term on the board as the Treasurer, as appointed by the Board of Directors.  She had no knowledge of hockey until she met her husband who is an avid hockey fan.  2-1/2 years ago, her daughter tried hockey for the first time and loved it, and a new hockey mom was born!  After 2 years with another organization, they discovered WWFHA and love the friendships formed over the past year with teammates and other parents.

Kathy is excited to use her 15 years of accounting experience to help WWFHA grow and expand female hockey. Welcome, and thank you, Kathy

A Hockey League of Their Own...
+ Tiered Travel Teams

WWFHA announces the Western Washington Female Hockey League - the first all-female youth hockey league in Washington State.

The Western Washington Female Hockey League (WWFHL) will provide an in-house all girl hockey experience for the 8U, 10U, and 12U/14U age groups with balanced teams competing against each other starting in September 2017.

USA Hockey stands behind its American Development Model (ADM). Age-specific and age-appropriate training develops skills while keeping practices fun. The WWFHL follows the ADM and encouraging girls to develop to their full potential under proven guidelines.

WWFHA also announces new tiered Travel Teams for the 8U, 10U, and 12U/14U age groups. These teams will be formed shortly after next season begins and will play local exhibition games, travel north to play girls teams, and participate in various female tournaments throughout the year. Participation on these tiered teams is optional, and placement will be based on skill.

Watch for more details, including registration and financials for both the in-house teams and the travel teams!

All Hockey Elite Spring/Summer Camp - Independent from WWFHA

NOTE: All Hockey Academy is a separate entity from WWFHA, owned and operated by several top coaches from the area. While WWFHA supports the program, it is an independently owned and operated business that offers camps and tournament teams -- including a team going to the Beantown Classic.

All Hockey offers programs for 7-10, 11-14, and 15 and over age groups for elite players and those who desire to reach the next level by the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

Each age group will train on the large ice at Highland with some of the best coaches in the area and engage in off-ice stick-handling and a separate off-ice conditioning session. Shaun Miller leads a team of excellent coaches for this camp May - July.

New: Engineered Sports will run the off-ice conditioning portion of the camp!

Coaches select players to travel to age-specific tournaments through the camp tenure.

Cost: $980 for 11 sessions

Ask WWFHA

Q: So there are four Wild teams playing in PCAHA now;
what is that league’s history?

A: The first minor hockey constitution in the greater Vancouver area was written in New Westminster in 1937—seventy years ago. The number of minor female teams within PCAHA grew from three in 1993 – 1194 to 92 in 2004 – 2005!
