It's Crunch Time!

Crunch time for the Community Consultation process

The Community Consultation on the ASF high-rise casino proposal and the Spit Parklands will come to an end on Friday 7 April which is just three weeks away.

The Community Consultation event being held at Broadwater Parklands this Sunday March 19 is our last chance to publicly make Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk aware that the majority of our community is totally opposed to high-rise on The Spit.

The State Government has agreed to provide a marquee for community groups and The Main Beach Association is planning a very strong presence together with Save Our Broadwater, Save Our Spit and Gecko.

Even if you have completed the online surveys on ASF and The Spit parklands, please do make the effort to attend so that a sea of yellow t-shirts can convey the very strong feelings of the community in opposing the ASF development.

If you already have a Stop The Spit Sell-Off shirt please wear it.

We will also have t-shirts (in 4 sizes) available for sale in the marquee and if you would like a t-shirt prior to Sunday please visit us at the path to the dog beach at The Spit on Saturday morning from 7am (weather permitting) or alternatively call Sue Donovan (0411 138 113) and we will arrange to get one to you.

Many of you will already have filled in the online survey. If you have done this you will have discovered the bias of the government-sponsored survey. For example there is no mention of the casino in the questionnaire which is a key element of any Integrated Resort Development.

For those uncomfortable with computer surveys or haven't had the time to fill it out we will have copies of the survey forms in our marquee which can be filled in by hand on the spot. We will have plenty of helpers on hand all wearing our distinctive yellow t-shirts to help you.

The community consultation session will give you the opportunity to impress on the Palaszczuk Government the strength of community opposition to the ASF proposal.

We will also use the occasion to express our feelings to the media.

WHEN:         Sunday 19 March, 10.30 am

WHERE:       Little Lawn, Broadwater Parkland, Southport

We do hope you can make it on Sunday at 10.30 am.
