March for Science - April 22, 2017

On Earth Day, April 22, 2017, gatherings will be held around the country to acknowledge “robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity.” Organizers note that, “People who value science have remained silent for far too long in the face of policies that ignore scientific evidence and endanger both human life and the future of our world.”

The primary event kicks off at 10am in Washington DC on April 22. Nearly 400 satellite events are planned around the world. Details may be found at the March for Science website: www.marchforscience.com

The International Building Performance Simulation Association USA Affiliate (IBPSA-USA) endorses the March for Science, which will be held on April 22, 2017. IBPSA-USA sees the march as an important expression of the vital role of science in the development of efficient, healthy, and productive buildings.

Public support for building science research and for development of building simulation tools has been essential in achieving dramatic improvements in building performance over the last four decades. The building industry is vast and diverse, and public investment and leadership is necessary to advance the state of our knowledge. The result will be continued improvement in buildings for occupants and our environment.
