Noodle Factory POSTER

Noodle Factory Jazz Project celebrates 10th anniversary

The Noodle Factory Jazz Project is a 10-piece jazz band founded in 2007 with the aim of providing a creative outlet for some of the best jazz musicians in the Grey Bruce Area. The band plays all original arrangements and compositions written by its members.

Bandleader Ian Burbidge does the lion’s share of the writing but the band also features the work of Don Buchanan, Wayne McGrath and Cam Porter.

In both our writing and playing we strive to stretch the boundaries of what a jazz band can be without getting so esoteric as to lose our audience. The 10-piece format gives us the option of being sometimes a large jazz combo and sometimes a compact big band.

With influences including Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, The Boss Brass, Oscar Peterson, Blood Sweat and Tears and Tower of Power, Noodle Factory has a little something for everyone.

G.L.T. Seeking New Directors and Play Suggestions

This is an open invitation for anyone who has directing experience or who would like to learn this craft. The Goderich Little Theatre would like to speak with you. Every year, the Programme Committee has the responsibility to recommend to the Board of Directors a proposed season for the upcoming year. Sometimes, someone offers to direct a specific play. Sometimes, the committee has a play in mind and seeks someone to direct it. Both processes work. Our mandate is to try to reach a balance in our season, so that the plays will appeal to a broad spectrum of participants and audiences of wide-ranging ages, tastes and interests. The best way to keep any group viable is to welcome new people into its fold and that is exactly what we are hoping to do.

So…if you have ever thought directing might be something you are interested in doing for the GLT, please call (519-524-6262) or email Cara (cara@thelivery.ca), who will pass on your information to our committee. Then, we can set up a time to chat directly with you about your experience, and whether you have a specific project in mind or if your interest is more general. We also would be interested in hearing form anyone who might like to be mentored as a director by working with one of our experienced directors on an upcoming play. The bottom line is that we want to grow our stable of directors.

We also invite anyone to contact Cara about suggestions for plays that you would like our committee to consider. Perhaps, you have seen one somewhere, loved it, and thought that perhaps it would work well for our theatre. Please let us know! Together we shall endeavour to continue to inspire, challenge and entertain our community both now and in the future.
