8) Rights, Faith and Policy; A Public Forum on Migrant Worker Issues
Cooper Institute is excited to invite you to participate in an important event for the support of Migrant Workers in PEI and the Maritimes. Rights, Faith, and Policy: A Public Forum on Migrant Worker Issues will take place on Monday, March 27th, from 9:30am - 4:00pm at the PEI Farm Centre in Charlottetown: 420 University Avenue.
This event will bring together migrant workers, community organizations, faith groups, and provincial representatives to build capacity for action, policy, and solidarity on migrant worker rights.
The forum will begin with a panel featuring speakers addressing each of the 4 themes of the event. Following the large group discussion, participants choose to participate in one of 4 concurrent streams. These streams address the 4 themes of the event:
- Provincial Policies: the role of Provincial policies for migrant worker rights
- Communities of Faith: Social Justice outreach with Migrant Workers – Hosted by KAIROS Canada
- Community Solidarity: the role of organizations and individuals.
The day will conclude with a presentation of the strategies and next steps determined by each group.
Registration is required; this event is free to attend, and lunch and snacks will be provided. Transportation support is available for migrant workers who wish to attend. Funds for child and elder care are also available upon request.

9) New and Not Improved: Fraud and Scams
In recognition of Fraud prevention month the PEI Party Line has a program scheduled with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre on March 29. For those of you who may not be familiar with the program, the PEI Party Line is a free teleconference service that Islanders of any age can participate in to access information on community programs, services, health and wellness and general interest topics. Registration is free. Please feel free to pass this notice along to anyone who you feel may be interested.

10) Ask Us about Therapeutic Touch®
The “founding” of Therapeutic Touch happened 45 years ago by Dr. Dolores Krieger, NYUniversity and Dora Kunz. The Atlantic Therapeutic Touch Network celebrated its 20th Anniversary in 2016. The ATTN Coordinator/Secretary, Judy Donovan Whitty, R.N. (retired) and ATTN-Stratford Practice Group leader Mary Hughes, R.N. love to talk about Therapeutic Touch but even more like to provide sessions to those interested in this modality.
Judy and Mary will provide an overview on this topic and will provide demonstrations/mini sessions at the Martha Spirituality Center Thursday, April 6th, 7 pm. Sessions take approximately 5-7 minutes followed by a rest period. Offered each Thursday to the public 10-11:30 am at the Hospice/Palliative care facility, and 7 pm at Andrews of Stratford, and 7 pm in Kensington at the Health Clinic; also on Tuesdays, 6 pm at Wedgewood Manor, Summerside. 11) 2017 Micro-Grant Program
The City of Charlottetown’s 2017 Micro-Grant program is now open and accepting applications. If you’ve got an idea for a community project related to sustainability this program is a great way to get the funding you need to put it into action!
This year the applications will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of community members who represent a range of interests and backgrounds related to sustainability. The projects that are chosen will receive up to $2,500 in funding to bring the inspired ideas they put forth tolife.
