Boston, Mass | Friday, March 17, 2017 — Join us for the two night stand of this one man show, starring Boston actor and performer Gene Dante as the long gone but not to be forgotten Paul Lynde in a special presentation of God Save The Queen - Paul Lynde ‘79 on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 at Machine, 1254 Boylston St., Boston. ​Star of stage and screen, Paul Lynde made us laugh as the zany Uncle Arthur on Bewitched, as the voice of beloved animated characters, but may be best remembered by generations of daytime tv viewers as the “center square” during the 13 year run on popular 70s game show, Hollywood Squares. Paul Lynde was a trailblazer. He was a sought after talk show guest, due in large part to his lightning wit -- yet his was a life unsettled and complex. 
 

“He definitely flew between incredible narcissism and crippling doubt -- the center of that Venn diagram, of course, is “art,” says the show’s co-creator and star, Gene Dante.

Zany Hijinx – comprised of Lisa Boucher Hartman (Portland, Emerson College graduate) and Gene Dante (Boston) – is the production company behind the New England tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Gene Dante (Paul Lynde): Gene appeared as Dionysus in THE BACCHAE at American Repertory Theater’s Oberon Nightclub.  Previously at A.R.T., Gene appeared in both The Lilly’s Revenge and The Rocky Horror Show (Brad Majors, Elliot Norton Award nomination).  He also was the title role in the recent critically acclaimed New England tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Previous roles include Elton John & Tim Rice's Aida (Radames), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Andrew Jackson), The Fantasticks (El Gallo), and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (The Beast), and several appearances in productions by Ryan Landry's Gold Dust Orphans.  Gene writes and performs original music with his band The Future Starlets. www.genedante.com
