Dear Proud Texan,

There are many exciting things happening at the Capitol! The Senate floor debates and committee hearings are heating up now that we are past the 60th day of Session and can hear more than the Governor's Emergency Items on the Floor.

I am pleased my bills have made some great progress, including:
  • Senate Bill 25 - Physician Liability - removes the "wrongful birth" cause of action.  Has passed out of the Senate State Affairs committee with a vote of 9-0. It is eligible to be presented to the full Senate next week.
  • Senate Bill 29 - Texas Stands with Israel - preventing taxpayer dollars from going to businesses that boycott Isreal. Has passed out of the Senate Business & Commerce Committee and will be presented to the full Senate in the coming days.
Below are a few more highlights from last week. Please feel free to share this update. Keeping you informed is extremely important to me. It is an honor to serve Senate District 4 as state Senator.

God Bless Texas,

State Senator, District 4

THE BLAZE: Texas Lawmaker Rips Liberal Media for 'Fake News' about his Pro-Life Bill

Senate Bill 25 - Physician Liability Bill

"Unfortunately these fake news stories are circulating (which did not contact me to verify any information) and consequently failed to report to the public the facts that are important when the public is considering judgment on this particular effort," said Senator Brandon Creighton. "I want to be really clear that nothing in Senate Bill 25 relieves a physician of any negligent behavior."

Senate Bill 25 passed out of the Senate State Affairs Committee with a vote of 9-0, including the vote of a pro-choice Democrat.

Ensuring physician disclosure requirements and maintaining current standard of care for all Texans is critical. Because of this concern, we did extensive research, met with physicians and patients, and worked with the Texas Attorney General's office.

By no means would Senator Creighton ever support a law that would change ethical standards for physicians in any case, but especially in requirement to disclose diagnostic information to their patients.

Senators Shred TAB Director

Several members shredded the Texas Association of Business (TAB) director during a 19-hour hearing on Senate Bill 6 - The Texas Privacy Act - last week. The TAB fell out of line with concerns of average business owners by posting a fake study to discredit the Texas Privacy Act. Watch the questioning! It's worth it.

Highlight of  Senator Creighton Bills:

  • Senate Bill 28 - Ports Infrastructure ImprovementThis bill revolutionizes the state's funding mechanism for Texas ports infrastructure improvement.
  • Senate Bill 329 - Adult Adoptee Rights - This bill would give adopted adults the right to have their original birth certificate and a supplemental medical form.
  • Senate Bill 133 - Tax Free Weekend for Hunting Supplies - This bill would allow for a sales tax-free weekend for guns and hunting supplies.
