Welcome to a New Season from Dan Horner, Club President
Well, just when we all thought winter was going to be short and relatively mild, the old man let us know it was still only March. Thank you to everyone for their understanding when we decided to close a few days last month. We don't make those decisions lightly, but we must take into consideration the forecasts and the safety of our staff at all times of year. Hopefully we can put cold temperatures and snow behind for good soon.
Thank you to everyone who has pre-purchased carts and guest fee packages. Both you and the club benefit from these early offers. You have until April 15th to get in on the discounts. More information can be found below.
Events will be at full tilt before you know it. Already on the horizon we have Easter, Member-Guest, and Opening Day. Be sure to check the calendar and keep an eye on your email for important updates and announcements.

From the Pro
The better weather finally made it back to Pennsylvania this week and for the first time this season we were busy. It was a great feeling for all the golfers to be in shorts and just a golf shirt. We are looking forward to a great season!
Sharpen The Saw for the month of April. This past Monday I was privileged to be in a group that had Hank Haney as the guest speaker. While he had a lot of great technical ideas he offered one of the most simplistic ways to lower your handicap. His 3 step plan to lower your handicap was: 1) no penalty shots during your round, no ob, water, unplayable lies, etc. 2) when chipping, pitching, or playing from a bunker you must always get the shot on in one 3) no 3 putts. He simply called a round that strokes were added in any one of these 3 bullet points as a should of, would of, could of round.
Opening Day Sat April 29-Both Ladies and Men will play Best 2 of 4 full Handicap, teams will be random selected by computer. A Shotgun start at 9:15 with donuts and coffee to start at 8am, please sign up with the Golf Shop by 27th at 5PM.
Masters Par 3 Wednesday April 5- Par 3 Tournament, 5:30 Shotgun Start, you may make your own teams or be paired by the Golf Shop. The event will be individual stroke play with Proximity prizes on each hole. The entry will include a draw party following play and all participants will receive a player in the Masters Pool Tourney.
Ladies Day-Tuesday Opening Day will be Tuesday April 18th at 10am. April-May-September will start at 10am, while June, July, and August will begin at 9am. General play will be able to start up until ½ hour prior to the start of Ladies Day.
Spring Member Guest Friday April 21st
Men's Invitational-the information was mailed last week and registration has been brisk. We will shut off registration when we reach 48 teams. Optional practice round Thursday June 1st, followed by Tournament rounds on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd.

Ladies' Association News
Spring is just around the corner (we hope!) and that means that start of the 2017 Ladies’ Golf Association season. The Executive Board has put the finishing touches on a calendar of events that feature a variety of formats. Whether partner events, groupings by handicap or random assignment; fun games, special events or competitions; 9 holes or 18, the Association is hopeful that you find a reason to join our organization. Association dues of $50 are your passport to fun, friendship and great golf! Any Executive Board member will be happy to answer your questions or provide more information.
The season kicks off with the annual Opening Dinner on Thursday April 13. Join us for cocktails at 5:30 pm and dinner at 6:00 pm. Enjoy a delicious dinner, reconnect with old friends and make new contacts. Call the dining room to make your reservation.
Opening Day on Tuesday April 18 will be a 5-person scramble…stress-free, lots of fun and a good way to knock off winter’s “rust". Association play continues every Tuesday. Note that April start times are at 10:00 am. You are asked to be at your cart (walking or riding) no later than 9:30 am for announcements and pairings.
Remember, we welcome and encourage all female members of the Club, regardless of skill or competitive interest, to join the Ligonier Ladies’ Golf Association and have some fun!
Sincerely,
LCC Ladies Golf Association Executive Board

Course Beautification
Our Superintendent John Hugo always appreciates a helping hand when it comes to the flower beds and other areas around the course. If you enjoy working outdoors and getting in the dirt, feel free to ask John or Al Bayer if you are interested in volunteering some time.
We also want to take a minute to remind everyone about our Course Beautification Program, reinstated about 10 years ago by the request of the membership. Click HERE for more information and member tee assignments.
