Dear <<First Name>>

Spring is here, and the bikepacking season in Scotland is almost upon us. But while Mike Hall, Sarah Hammond, Kristof Allegaert, Juliana Buhring, Jesse Carlsson and 65 other riders battle the emptiness of the Nullarbor in the next days, Bikepacking Scotland founder Markus is getting ready for a series of talks in Aberdeen, Inverness and Ashkirk, sharing his experience of cycling Australia and 25 other countries on one gear. Follow us on Twitter for updates from that mini tour next week and please come around to say hello if you can. And with less than three months to go, entries for the third edition of the Capital Trail will open on Sunday at 8pm. The Capital Trail is a great bikepacking route around Edinburgh, and on 3 June 100 likeminded people will gather on Portobello Beach to jointly tackle this challenging ride through the Lothians and Borders.

Are you one of them?
Entries for the Capital Trail open on 19 March at 8pm. With only 100 spaces available, you need to be quick to secure your spot for the 3 June. The Capital Trail is an Individual Mountain Bike Time Trial around the Scottish Capital Edinburgh, the perfect challenge for experienced mountain bikers and bikepackers. It's a fully self-supported event, the small administration charge covers the breakfast at the Tide Cafe and a photographer. To enter click here, for more information go here

‘I loved the varied terrain; great distance; huge ascent; ease of re-supply; simple-no fuss, friendly small numbers and I needed to navigate!’

‘It’s an absolutely superb route’

Voted by Bikepacking.com as ‘Best New Trail‘ in 2015.

Dan, Jenny, Geoff and Markus - with a big smile after a successful first edition of Adventurous Edinburgh, a new series of talks with Edinburgh-based adventurers. With more than 50 guests we had a nice audience enjoying an evening of stories ranging from crossing the mountains in Kyrgyzstan, cycling around the world singlespeed and exploring Scotland's vast network of bothies. The one thing we all had in common, we cycled out to Craigdon Mountains Sports, where Martin and his team provided a great venue for us. The feedback was great, we asked the audience to describe the event in one word afterwards, and that's what we got: Inspirational, fascinating, motivational, informative and inspiring.

The next event will be on Thursday 27 April at 7pm at Craigdon Mountain Sports, we will announce speakers soon, but you can already get more information and your tickets here
While the Indian Pacific Wheel Race is on, you might have seen this picture on social media and the website for the race recently. While riding the Nullarbor unsupported is a gruelling effort, riding it on the same gear is even harder.

This and more stories from the road are at the heart of 'Singlespeeed around the world' - a series of talks Bikepacking Scotland founder Markus Stitz will give on his mini tour through Scotland. If you come along, you'll also get inspiration for bikepacking routes in Scotland as well, as Markus will talk about the Capital Trail and Central Belter.
