After the launch of the preliminary call this summer, we just published the full call for papers for the next EMES research conference entitled "Sustainable development through social enterprise, co operative and voluntary action".
The title of the conference places right at the centre of the debate the issue of sustainable development and how social enterprises, cooperatives and voluntary organisations contribute to it.
The aim of this conference is to be a meeting place for scholars from across the globe who have developed contributions to scholarship on the social and solidarity economy, social entrepreneurship, social innovation, cooperative development and voluntary action.

THEMATIC LINES
In order to encourage participation from scholars and researchers from various disciplines, traditions and geographic areas, the conference will be structured along 10 main thematic lines. The goal is to continue building up an international corpus of theoretical and empirical knowledge, pluralistic in disciplines and methodologies, around “SE” concepts (social enterprise, social entrepreneurship, social economy and solidarity economy). The thematic lines are:
- Concepts and models of social enterprise, cooperative and voluntary action (SE)
- Resourcing social, cooperative and voluntary action
- Social innovation and entrepreneurship
- SE as a site for radical forms of democracy, participation and action
- Multi-level governance and ecosystems for SE and sustainable development
- Public policy and legal frameworks for SE
- The commons and collaborative economy through SE
- Social solidarity and transformative movements
- Substantive economy and Polanyian approaches to SE research and practice
- Epistemological, methodological and pedagogic innovations / advancements in SE

Scientific commitee members of the #7EMESconf
An impressive number of international scholars have joined the #7EMESconf scientific committee: they will support the event through their participation and the review of the submitted abstracts in order to ensure the highest scientific quality of the event.
Together with the organising committee, we will work toward creating a unique atmosphere where knowledge exchange, networking, and mutual learning can thrive. We will be launching a campaign to introduce individual members so you know who is behind the essential task of reviewing and selecting the papers that will be presented in Sheffield next June.

Short-term study visits and conference grants and available through EMPOWER-SE!
As you already know, the EMPOWER-SE COST Action relies on multiple Networking Tools. Among them, Short-term Scientific Visits (STSM) have proven to be of interest to various researchers. Thanks to the participation of our enthusiastic STSM Evaluation Committee, four researchers will benefit from our COST ACTION scholarships. They are Ignacio Bretos, Natasha Gjorevska, Marthe Nyssens and Giorgia Trasciani and we will be featuring them in future posts.
They will be able to go to an institution, organisation or research centre in another participating COST Country in order to foster collaboration and conduct empirical research. We already wish them lots of success in their endeavour! Four more STSM scholarships are still waiting to be granted until the end of 2018.
We are also very happy to announce the launch of our ICT Grants. Besides organising scientific events, we can also bring a financial support to PhD students and early-career investigators from participating Inclusiveness Target Countries who would like to attend SE-related conferences that are not specifically organised by our COST Action.

Submission deadline coming up for research workshop to explore dynamics and innovative paths on social and health services provision by social enterprises
The second Research Workshop entitled “Social Enterprise in Social and Health Services” will take place from 27th February until 1st March 2019 at the Competence Center for Social Intervention Research from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Germany).
The workshop welcomes scholars interested in the exploration of the dynamics of and innovative paths in the provision and organization of social and health services as well as comparisons across Europe. We invite you to give a look at the event page as well as the full call as important dates and deadlines have already been set up. Indeed, authors interested in participating will be able to submit papers until next November 10th.
The scientific committee is composed of Danijel Baturina (HR), Taco Brandsen (NL), Linda Lundgaard Andersen (DK), Nicole Göler von Ravensburg (DE), Carmen Guzmán Alfonso (ES), Andrzej Klimczuk (PL), Michael Märtens (DE) and Simon Teasdale (UK).

This volume compiles a dozen essays, by Victor Pestoff one of the most prolific proponents of co-production as a solution for many of the challenges facing public services and democratic governance at the outset of the 21st Century. Co-production is considered a partnership between citizens and public service providers that is essential for meeting a growing number of social challenges, since neither the government nor citizens can solve them on their own.
