New program
Professional developpement
 
 
WHY
  • The National Theatre School of Canada (NTS) is committed to offering continuing education to its alumni and other professionals that is as rigorous as its core programs; the training will deepen their expertise and, consequently, increase their skills and their contribution to the community;
  • These workshops will bring together smaller groups that allow for privileged contact between professionals.
 
WHAT
  • Training programs tailored to the realities of the professional field and the challenges faced by the arts sector; they will be initially held in Montreal, but will eventually be offered across Canada;
  • Residencies for artists who wish to deepen or hone their practice (akin to a master’s degree);
  • Short-term courses or workshops in a wide range of disciplines;
  • Masterclasses by renowned artists who are teaching at NTS;
  • Like NTS’s core training programs, these continuing education programs will be taught by artists with recognized expertise in their field.
 
WHO
  • Professionals artists who are seeking to improve their skills;
  • Emerging or mid-career artists who wish to clarify their artistic approach;
  • Recent immigrants seeking to adapt their international training to Canadian realities;
  • Artists who cannot commit to long-term programs or who are already beyond basic training.
 
WHEN
 
May 2017
  • Pilot project for intensive training in motion capture, in partnership with Ubisoft;
  • Pilot project in partnership with the Cercle Molière in Winnipeg for scenography students.
 
Summer 2017
  • NTS will provide three workshops in costume and scenography.
 
Fall-winter 2017
  • Development of the training offers ("research and creation" workshops, masterclasses).
 
Spring 2018
  • Official launch.
 
HOW
  • A pedagogical committee will be set up to ensure the quality and the consistency of the content of the training and to give advice on which training programs will complement the core programs;
  • Financing from multiple funds.
