NPA encourages you to make a submission to the Draft Statewide Threat and Risk Assessment Report (TARA) for NSW coastal and estuarine areas. 

The draft statewide TARA identifies, assesses and prioritises the threats to the social, economic and environmental benefits that the Marine Estate Management Authority (MEMA) believes the NSW community, derives from the marine estate. Submission deadline 31 March 2017.

Natural areas are under threat across Sydney’s suburbs from a range of impacts within the strategic planning direction for Greater Sydney proposed by the Greater Sydney Commission and State government over the next 40 years – from land clearing for housing development to the introduction of activities which will potentially conflict and degrade the core natural values of our existing National Parks estate. Submission deadline 31 March 2017.

Nature Conservation Council of NSW has prepared a submission guide on the proposed changes to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act which you can download here. The Department of Planning and Environment is also holding a series of workshops in late February/March around the State – register here. The submission deadline has been extended to 31 March 2017.

Nature Conservation Council’s 11th Biennial Bushfire Conference will be held in Sydney on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st May 2017, with a field day on Thursday 1st June. This multi-disciplinary fire management conference will cover themes including: fire and fauna; using fire for restoration; and the interactions of fire, weed and feral management.
