Grootbos Private Nature Reserve
Voted as one of National Geographic's Unique Lodges of the World, Grootbos Private Nature Reserve showcases luxury in harmony with nature. The hotel focuses on eco-tourism whilst offering guests a one-of-a-kind luxury African experience. Grootbos is perfectly situated between Cape Town and the start of the Garden Route, and is home to the ‘Marine Big 5’, namely: great white sharks, southern right whales, seals, penguins, and dolphins.
Private Safaris General Manager South Africa, Bettina van den Hurk recently visited Grootbos to find out just what all the eco fuss was about, this is her story:
Grootbos to me is an incredibly unique product, from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. In the middle of nowhere, one finds a 5* eco-paradise where one can experience gourmet food of the finest, a great variety of adventures, incredible accommodation with magnificent views, deluxe spa treatments, and know that so much is done for Responsible Tourism. Grootbos invests in people and in the environment, and knowing that every visit impacts positively on the natural surrounding environment and that guests experience amazing things, this product is a best seller!
Needless to say, the part owner and founder of Grootbos, Michael Lutzeyer, is a great guy and an amazing sales person. I’d love to bring him in one day to teach our sales team some of his tricks.
