In accordance with our Bylaws, the Board has formed a Nominating Committee, comprised of both Board and non-Board members to recruit, review, and help elect a new Board member. See responsibilities here. The Nominating Committee members are:

Julie Dressner (board), Chair

Individuals may also be nominated for any Director or Officer position by a nominating petition signed by any eighteen (18) Members in Good Standing and submitted to Richard Greenspan, Secretary, two weeks before the date of the election. Contact Richard Greenspan at: rgreenspan@me.com

The election will take place at the Annual Meeting on May 21.
PURIM was a big hit! Thank you to everyone for coming out and celebrating with Kolot last weekend.
UPSTANDER TRAINING
Thursday, Mar 30 @ 7:00pm
@ Kolot Chayeinu. 1012 8th Avenue.

Upstander workshops are designed to equip those facing hate and violence with de-escalation skills and basic self-defense techniques. Additionally, this training empowers bystanders with the tools they need to help those facing harassment by choosing intentionally from a continuum of tactics. These two approaches combined offer New Yorkers unique and critical options for keeping our communities as safe as possible and mitigating violence.

You must be a Kolot member to participate, and there are limited spots, so you must be logged-in to ShulCloud to register for this event. Hurry before there's no more room!  Registration form is here.
COME SEE RABBI ELLEN LIPPMANN &
DR. DEBBIE ALMONTASER
LIVE ON PERSON PLACE THING PODCAST WITH RANDY COHEN

Monday, Apr 3 @ 7:00pm
@ Kolot Chayeinu. 1012 8th Avenue.

Get tickets here!

Rabbi Lippmann and Dr. Almontaser, a rabbi and a Muslim activist, will be talking with each other live on our bima as they are interviewed by Randy Cohen of the podcast Person Place Thing. They will be discussing: activism, the President’s Muslim ban, and this moment when our faiths and people must come together to say yes to democracy and justice. We really hope you can come out to hear their discussion and support the interview.

Person Place Thing Podcast with Randy Cohen is an interview show based on this idea: people are particularly engaging when they speak not directly about themselves but about something they care about. Guests talk about one person, one place, and one thing that are important to them. The result?  Surprising stories from great talkers. Click here for a list of previous interviews
GALA NAMING CONTEST
Get creative! We want your input!

As we plan our 2018 Gala celebrating Rabbi Lippmann's retirement and Kolot's 25th anniversary, and we lean into this transformational time for the Congregation, we would love your thoughts as to what we might title the Gala?

Previous galas were named: "Chai Time," "Loud & Clear," "Praying with Our Feet, Dancing with Our Souls," "Open Tent," and "Bread and Torah."

The person with the winning title will receive one free ticket to the Gala (to be held in the Spring 2018).

Submit your ideas here BEFORE APRIL 11! The committee can't wait to read them!

OUR MISSION
Kolot Chayeinu/Voices of Our Lives is a Jewish congregation in Brooklyn, where doubt can be an act of faith and all hands are needed to build our community. We are creative, serious seekers who pray joyfully, wrestle with tradition, pursue justice and refuse to be satisfied with the world as it is. As individuals of varying sexual orientations, gender identities, races, family arrangements, and Jewish identities and backgrounds, we share a commitment to the search for meaningful expressions of our Judaism in today's uncertain world.
