Like father, like sons
 

Ponder brothers reflect on life lessons learned on the job with daddy

 

Harry Ponder admits it: He’s never worked a day in his life. For the most part, neither has his brother, Rex. They came by that honestly, folks who knew their daddy, Glenn Ponder, would say. That man delighted in plants and even more so in people, and spending every day at his nursery near Dadeville surrounded by an abundance of both couldn’t seriously be called work. For two youngsters who spent most of their waking hours at their daddy’s business, that positive attitude became engrained.

New training and research facility debuts at NPTC
 

The National Poultry Technology Center at Auburn University recently hosted its first hands-on training seminar at its new equipment testing and evaluation house. The event attracted about 80 poultry managers and technicians from leading commercial poultry companies.

Students at Auburn University will have a new degree option next fall as the College of Agriculture offers a bachelor of science in applied biotechnology. The new major was approved by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education in December.
