Support for IDDSI in Canada

SAC's Board of Directors has voted to support the International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative's (IDDSI) framework, roll-out and implementation in Canada.

In 2015, IDDSI officially launched a framework of standardized terminology and definitions for texture-modified foods and liquids applicable to individuals with dysphagia of all ages, in all care settings and all cultures. The framework was the result of the collaboration of representatives from around the world, including SAC's representative Catriona M. Steele, PhD, S-LP(C), CCC-SLP.

For more information about the roll-out of IDDSI in Canada, be sure to check out our IDDSI Framework Webcast. This webcast provides an overview of IDDSI as well as one Canadian hospital's experience with implementing the framework.

IDDSI is looking for volunteers to provide input on the draft French Canadian translation of the IDDSI Framework, Descriptors and Testing Methods.
