University Hosting Informational Session on Immigration Rights
The UM Latin American Studies Minor and the Foreign Languages Program will host two information panels on immigration rights in Comer Auditorium.
The first will be held Wednesday, March 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The second will be held the next day, March 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. This second session will feature immigration lawyers who will present and answer any questions. Both sessions will feature translators.
Montevallo Branch of AAUW to Present Style Show, Luncheon and Silent Auction
Montevallo’s chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is hosting a multi-faceted fund raising event on Thursday, March 23 at the Stewart Student Retreat from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event will consist of a professional dress fashion show with styles by Belk, a luncheon catered by Southern Sweets and a silent auction. Funds raised will go toward the local AAUW chapter.
Ticket reservations are $16 and may be purchased by contacting either Tonja Battle, Amanda Melcher or Tracy Rockco. All ticket reservations must be turned in by Monday, March 20.
Donations Needed for Second Professional Clothing Drive
Throughout the month of March, the University will be accepting community donations for the second Professional Clothing Drive, hosted by the Offices of Partnerships and Outreach, Service Learning, the Career Development Center and Phi Chi Theta.
Donations will benefit UM students as they prepare for job interviews, internships and other business professional dress requirements.
The drive is requesting men’s ties, shirts, jackets, slacks, belts and shoes and women’s shirts, jackets, slacks, skirts, dresses and shoes. Donors can drop off items Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Global Community and Outreach Building (GLOCO) or schedule a pickup by emailing Kelli Holmes.
UM Bookstore Offers Sales on Hats, Trade Books
The Barnes & Noble Bookstore on Main Street is holding a 25 percent off sale on all hats through Friday, March 17. The store is also offering 50 percent off new trade books and 75 percent off all clearance merchandise. Every purchase comes with a free Peach Tea Monster Rehab.
