MUSIC & INDUSTRY
The term millennial is ubiquitous, yet fairly useless. The demographic contains roughly 75 million Americans, and are specifically known for their diversity. There are some worthy insights if you drill down a bit, and use music as a lens. Exhibit A: Chance The Rapper and Drake as proxies to highlight the difference between "New" and “Old" millennials.
BRANDS & BANDS
Music is a powerful marketing tool for brands. Brands know this. The music industry also knows this. It's not surprising to see Urban Outfitters selling products like the "Coachella Valley Tunic." It is surprising that they did so without a deal in place with Goldenvoice. The suit Goldenvoice filed against Urban Outfitters should, however, surprise no one.
