You may have wondered a couple of years ago whatever happened to that indie dyer Kate? I kind of dropped off the face of the earth yarn and fiber wise. Here's the short version. I had my fourth and (probably) last baby in November 2014. Things were absolutely beautiful. I closed the shop for a short maternity leave. I actually made a huge Thanksgiving feast the day after I got out of the hospital. And then things gradually got harder and harder. The baby did not sleep (guys he didn't sleep through the night till he was over 2 years old so this was an ongoing thing all by itself!) I started to feel hopeless and worthless. Most of the time I just felt like I was drowning. It came on so gradually though, that it wasn't till I was at almost a year post partum that I realized I was suffering from PPD (post partum depression). Coming to this realization was a total relief, because it meant I finally had a name for the reason I was struggling. I've spent the past year working things out, not ready to open up the shop until I knew I could handle it. This is probably way too personal, but I wanted to be open because chances are very good that one of you reading this email has struggled with PPD or loves someone who has or maybe you will in the future. If any of this sounds familiar and you'd like to talk to someone about it, seriously send me an email. Anytime. Three years from now even! I'd be more than happy to chat with you about my experience and your experience. Sometimes its easier to talk to someone who doesn't know you all that well, who you may never even meet in person, so you can be real and not try to maintain an image of how well you're handling things.

So here we are, with the shop back in full swing. Life is good. Things are not perfect but they are peaceful.
