NEWS
In search of new offices, Millcreek issues RFP
MILLCREEK. For the past four months, the Mt. Olympus Improvement District has graciously housed Millcreek. They have given us a couple of offices and cubbies, and also their conference room, where we have conducted business and held council meetings. And they have not charged us a penny of rent. As residents, we have all been the fortunate beneficiaries of their hospitality.
We need to move into a new space by July 1st. Millcreek Planning Commissioner Fred Healey, and residents Earl and Anna Clare Shepard, have donated much time over many months looking at possibilities throughout the city, and helping us determine how much space we will need. We now have a better idea of what is out there, and we know we need about 6,500 square feet. So it is time to start locating and negotiating for space.
In furtherance of that goal, the City has issued a new Request for Proposals for our new office. The RFP can be found here. We are excited to get responses back soon. We'll keep you updated as we make progress.
Open House to Discuss Changes to Millcreek's Commercial Zones
The Millcreek Township Planning Commission is hosting an open house next week to obtain input on changes being considered for Millcreek's commercial zones. A draft of the ordinance as currently proposed can be found here.
The proposed changes do not alter the on-the-ground outlines of the commercial zones. Instead, the changes are designed to have Millcreek's ordinances comply better with state law. They will also fix issues that have arisen from years of no change in the status quo, in an effort to keep up with the changing times.

Hold the Date for an East Millcreek Emergency Response Team Whole Community Resilience Event
In conjunction with the Great Utah Shakeout on April 15th, the East Millcreek Emergency Leadership Team is hosting an event at William Penn Elementary School. From 9-11 a.m., you can learn about the S.A.F.E. Neighborhood Program, and your kids can get a close-up view of a UFA fire engine and a UPD patrol car.

Contractors on the 900 East and 2300 East projects will be working over the next several weeks on the remaining punch list items for those projects. Expect lane shifts and shoulder closures.

A cool new interactive map of Millcreek is available. It shows council districts, zip codes, and existing zoning. You can zoom in onto individual parcels. Thanks to the Salt Lake County Surveyor, who prepared the map at the request of Mayor Silvestrini to assist in answering constituent questions. Explore the map here, and let us know what other information you'd like to see included.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Millcreek will make reasonable accommodation for participation in the meeting. Request assistance by contacting Leslie Van Frank, 801-541-8838, and provide at least 48 hours advance notice of the meeting.
Public Comment Policy and Procedure: The purpose of public comment is to allow citizens to address items on the agenda. Citizens requesting to address the commission will be asked to complete a written comment form and present it to the acting city recorder. In general, the chair will allow an individual two minutes to address the Council. A spokesperson, recognized as representing a group in attendance, may be allowed up to five minutes. At the conclusion of the citizen comment time, the chair may direct staff to assist the citizen on the issue presented; direct the citizen to the proper administrative department(s); or take no action. This policy also applies to all public hearings. Citizens may also submit written requests (outlining their issue) for an item to be considered at a future council meeting. The chair may place the item on the agenda under citizen comments; direct staff to assist the citizen; direct the citizen to the proper administrative departments; or take no action.
