Spring is in the Air

After a much welcomed rainy winter for Southern California, March 20th marked the first day of spring. As we enter the 2nd quarter of the year, hopefully by now you have planned your annual employee events. Here are a few thoughts for you to consider:

Family Picnic – Bowling Event – Horseback Riding – TGIF get together
Family Easter Egg Hunt or decorating contest – Potluck – Manager’s Outing

Southern California Hospitality Industry Survey Update

Over 70 Southern California hotels have participated in our survey this year and we are diligently working on tabulating all of the survey results. Those results will include the average minimum and maximum pay scale for all hourly and exempt positions as well as much needed benefits and working conditions information. The benefits portion of the survey includes information such as health care employer and employee premiums, average banquet service charges imposed on guests, number of rooms cleaned in an 8 hour shift, 401(k), labor cost (including payroll taxes and employee benefits) and much more!

For those hotels that have not participated this year, survey results will be available for purchase mid-April.

Client Highlight:
Hotel Californian
In Santa Barbara

We are proud and honored to highlight this month, The Californian Hotel in Santa Barbara, opening in the Summer of 2017! We just recently placed the hotel’s new Human Resources Director, Ms. Marianela Atencio. Marianela joins Mr. Carlos Lopes; the property’s Managing Director and Mr. Warren Nocon, the hotel’s General Manager. We have had a long standing relationship with both Ms. Atencio and Mr. Nocon and are thrilled that the “A Team” is in place to manage and lead this stunning property.

“One of the most anticipated hotel openings this year, will be Santa Barbara’s Hotel Californian. Opening soon, this stylish boutique resort is already grabbing the attention of locals, west coast residents and creating buzz. Featuring Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and a modern Moorish vibe, the waterfront resort will cater to the Hollywood elite, locals and international visitors alike. Originally built in 1925, this State Street seaside destination has been meticulously curated by developer Michael Rosenfeld; featuring paseos, gardens, fountains and open plazas."

"Offering unparalleled amenities including a rooftop pool deck overlooking the coastline, together with a luxury Turkish-inspired spa, fashion boutique and casual dining options, the 121-room Hotel Californian is located adjacent to Santa Barbara’s vibrant Funk Zone and one block from Santa Barbara's Union Station. Its ballrooms, event lawns and meeting spaces are ideal for weddings and group events. The decor of the hotel is by elite, A-list designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, embracing the Santa Barbara Style with unexpected details and thought-provoking art at every turn."
