Cobblestone Hotel is now open and looking for trail partners

Connellsville has gotten the hotel it has dreamed of for decades. For the bicycling community, the hotel will be a sweet suite! The picture above of the front of the hotel is taken from the trail. You can't get much closer!

Hotel developer, Hotel D2 Services, has worked tirelessly to open the Cobblestone Hotel and Suites, a national flagged hotel.

The Hotel hopes to partner with other trail businesses. Chris Rosselot of Hotel D2 Services said "Our brand new, 54 room hotel along the GAP bike trail and the scenic Youghiogheny River, offers free hot breakfast, wine and beer bar, swimming pool and bike storage. Please let us know how we can partner with your business!"

Interested trail partners should contact:

The hotel is a dream come true for outdoor recreationalists who will love this nicely designed, friendly place with local design elements. Every room in the unique property has a view of the Great Allegheny Passage from its front window or overlooks the Youghiogheny River just outside its back door.

The Progress Fund was part of a unique financing package that included a partnership of three Pennsylvania CDFIs including The Reinvestment Fund, The Progress Fund, and Bridgeway Capital along with the City of Connellsville, the state of Pennsylvania and multiple private equity investors.

Burgettstown Train Station opens for business

If you haven't yet heard, the Burgettstown Area Community Development Corporation (BACDC) completed the final phase of construction at the historic Burgettstown Train Station with funding from R.K. Mellon Foundation. The grant covered the total cost of interior build-out, new porch and sidewalks, and accessibility improvements. The Progress Fund provided grant management, construction contract oversight, and advice to help BACDC position Burgettstown as a new biking destination along the Panhandle Trail.

Now home to The Shoppe Along the Way, Burgettstown Train Station has quickly become a very popular stop for trail visitors and locals alike. This "old fashioned" general store offers refreshing smoothies, coffee and treats along with a collection of unique seasonal and eclectic gifts, one-of-a-kind up-cycled and repurposed furniture, and home décor sourced from local artisans, vendors and farms. The Shoppe Along the Way is a stop you won't want to miss on your next visit to the Panhandle Trail!

Visit the Shoppe Along the Way at their website or Facebook page for more information.
